The native range of Magnolia grandiflora is the Gulf's coastal plain to the South Atlantic states. Its leaves are dark green, stiff and leathery. In late spring, the flowers -- up to 12 inches across -- emerge -- with a hint of lemon citronella. Those flowers inspired these earrings.
